Potty Training (February 1, 2014)

Lily has now learned the word for potty. She shows us her sign for it every time one of us goes into the bathroom, as if to announce to everything "Mama went to the bathroom!" and we happily reinforce it, "yes, mama is going potty!" There's no privacy. Lily announces it to the world.

Well, since Lily has now started telling us when she goes potty, we went out and got her a little toilet. She has spent a lot of time sitting on it, signing potty, telling us to sit on the big toilet next to her and go potty, telling us to put Chloe on the potty, putting her dolls on the potty ... but no actual going potty in the toilet yet.

However, since Lily wasn't using it, Chloe decided she had to go.

... and of course Lily thought that was adorable and had to say "Awwwww" and give her a hug.

... and then it was potty-time fun for a few hours

Hanging Out With Friends (January 23-26, 2014)

Lily and Chloe have lots of friends. Here are some of our fellow teachers, Blair and Sarah hanging around the house with us and visiting with the girls.

... and then the McKees came over. These are our family favorites. Lily goes NUTS for the girls! Here was the only semi-normal shot ... and then it was hugging, chasing, rolling over each other, and so on =)

Here is Delaney, who is six.

After playtime was over, the girls had to wind down. Lily got her bottle and instead of reading some books with her mom or dad, she laid down and watched Frozen on both sides of her. She loved it!

... and then Sunday morning it was off to Milan for brunch. We stopped at one of our favorite places, La Vineria. They make good wine and sell it cheap in all sorts of refillable containers. Lily couldn't make up her mind!

... so we bought it all. Here is Steve carrying our 10-Liter box (that's about 13 bottles of wine) and our 3-Liter glass jug ... as well as some wine for his place, haha (all for under 50 euros!).

Lily and the Agua (January 29, 2014)

Lily insisted on drinking out of her cup herself tonight. I was a little wary but she seemed to be doing well. 

It didn't last long. Cup #2 of Agua...well...I guess she doesn't need a bath tonight!

Also, I'm pretty sure she was yelling at me in what sounded like alien. Not going to lie. I'm a little freaked out.

This is how the kids of a math teacher relax ... splayed out with a calculator in their hand, haha.

Then their mom, who has much more fashion, dresses them up in ridiculously cute outfits.

This sign means either mama, dada, horse, or hat ... she can correctly use it for each, but discerning which she means can sometimes be a trick. I think she was saying mama this time.
